There's lots of exciting things happening, I tell ya! I'm so excited.

I also just recently took up the position of Stage Liason with the committee, so I get to work closely with those in the musical. I can't wait until July!!!

More updates and musical reviews [Feb. 9th, 2006|10:30 am]
The Gathering of the Fellowship, Lord of the Rings

The Gathering of the Fellowship has some new updates on their site including:

Cliff "Quickbeam" Broadway will be returning this year as the Master of Ceremonies

A screening of Ringers: Lord of the Fans featuring new footage

Ted Nasmith concert (artist, singer... extraordinaire!)
Ted Nasmith is well known for his Tolkien art, but much less recognized for his musical side. However, that is changing; in recent months he has begun to offer performances of a selection of his Tolkien inspired songs to audiences at the fan gatherings he has been invited to. His music has been received with considerable enthusiasm, a mixture of settings of familiar Tolkien poems and his own original compositions—both Tolkien and non-Tolkien. A tenor who plays guitar and bass, Ted has extensive experience in choral singing, song writing, and various [casual] bands over the years, involving a variety of genres. His recording output, while extensive, has been at the ‘home studio’ level, and not quite presentable enough for public consumption. With requests increasing lately, however, he has committed himself to producing a CD of selected songs.
(Details will be announced on his website www.tednasmith.com .)

Please join Ted for this special, Tolkienesque musical offering. He’ll be accompanied by his brother, Bruce Nasmith (a professional and multi-faceted talent in his own right) and possibly a third person as yet undecided.

The Gathering of the Fellowship, Lord of the Rings

As of January 2006 you will be required to have a passport to travel into Canada from the United States. So, if you don't have a passport yet, get it now, because it takes a couple months for them to get to you!

ETA: Ah, I guess the date has been pushed back for when this will go into effect (http://travel.state.gov/travel/cbpmc/cbpmc_2225.html), but nevertheless... having a passport does make crossing the border much easier.

John Howe! [Dec. 9th, 2005|11:46 am]
The Gathering of the Fellowship, Lord of the Rings

[mood |goodgood]

John Howe has officially been announced as a guest for the 2006 Gathering.
Also, they are still looking for committee members (I know that Ed is slow at getting back to people, I've been trying to keep him on his toes in regards to this).
Lastly, you can reserve your rooms at the discounted rates now... so don't delay. I just reserved mine, and I'm in need of 3 roommates. Anyone interested?

Hello! [Nov. 16th, 2005|12:22 pm]
The Gathering of the Fellowship, Lord of the Rings

*steps up to microphone*
*taps it*
Is this on?

Hello...I'm a newbie. I'm not new to LOTR or tolkein, just new to this community and the world of fan-conventions.
I have registered for the Toronto Gathering and I am really excited.

I live in the Niagara Region of Ontario, so Toronto is close by for me (90 minutes or 8 hours, depending on the traffic...LOL)

on the The Gathering Message Board I'm called Nariane, elsewhere I have a variety of online names, but mostly I'm known as Suz *waves*

so... Hail and well met to all!

Thank you for your attention and now back to your regularly scheduled programming :)

A Call for Volunteers [Nov. 9th, 2005|02:29 pm]
The Gathering of the Fellowship, Lord of the Rings

[mood |hopefulhopeful]

Hey everyone! I don't know if you know or not, but right now this whole thing is being planned almost completely by three people. They need your help. They are looking for committee members for almost every position and, from what I understand, some of these can be done even if you don't live in the Toronto area.
To see a full list go here: http://www.gatheringofthefellowship.org/convention/committee.html
If you are on the committee you get free admission as well as an invite to the VIP reception AND green room access (maybe get more up close and personal with the guests?).

Also, the journal is in need of submissions. For the journal, go here: http://www.gatheringofthefellowship.org/community/journal.html
We are looking for "Reader's Voice" or regular articles and art submissions.

So, there you go! I hope you'll join us!

[mood |bouncybouncy]

To anyone who has not reserved their Gathering hotel room, when I called this morning to reserve mine they only had two rooms left at the discounted rate - as it was I had to get a king size bed instead of two doubles. So, you might want to call now!
